2020 Tryouts for Northwest FC
Northwest FC is dedicated to the health and safety of our players, families and communities. With the future of large gathering unknown, we have decided to implement a virtual video and resume tryout. Our hope is to give new players a chance to join Northwest FC by submitting a video of pre-determined skills and upload them to our site. We are striving to make the best of our situation by making this year’s tryout the best we can.
After our coaches review your videos for consideration the following will apply.
On May 26th offers will begin to be made to current players, recreational players and players outside of the Ohio south Association.
On May 29th all other players outside of Northwest FC and inside the Ohio South Soccer Association may be given an invitation to be placed on a team with Northwest FC.
ALL offers given have a 24-hour grace period where you will have time to decide. Offers can be accepted via your TeamSnap account and the Demosphere account that will be provided to you.
All offers accepted must be confirmed via a $100 deposit in teamsnap and completing OYSA registration via Demosphere. The demosphere link will be emailed by your coach after the deposit is made.
All players should be given notice of their status of making or not making a team. If you haven’t heard from a coach please reach out firstname.lastname@example.org for an update.
If you need any assistance, please contact email@example.com.
All Video resumes must be uploaded to our site no later than midnight on May 24th, 2020. Instructions on uploading and sending videos are below the Skill video instructions.
Skill Video Instructions
For each of these demonstrations, our examples use cones. We recognize that everyone will not have access to cones. Many objects commonly found in the house can be substituted for the cones (shoes, cones, bags, etc.). All of them require a soccer ball. Each of these activities should be performed with the effort you would put into a game. This is your chance to show off your abilities to the coaches.
The Skills portion of the video will start after your introduction. ***please see samples video provided***
On the video, please state your name, birth year and a brief statement about yourself. It can be about your love for soccer, something great you have heard about Northwest FC or possibly an interesting fact about yourself that is either related to soccer or anything outside of soccer is fine as well.
Video 2: Figure 8 Dribbling Example- Click here
Place 2 cones 5-7 yards apart as shown in the image. Begin with the ball at one cone. Dribble diagonally towards the second cone. Turn around the outside of the second cone and return to the first cone in a diagonal fashion. Perform the same turn around the outside of the cone and repeat for 30 seconds. Your movements should look like you’re making an 8 around the cones. Perform as many repetitions as possible in 30 seconds.
Video 3: Sole Roll Challenge Example- Click here
Place 2 cones about 10 yards apart. Begin with the ball at one cone. Dribble from the first cone to the second using the sole of your right foot only by rolling the ball across your body. Repeat this on the way back to the first cone using the sole of your left foot only. Complete as many repetitions as possible within 30 seconds.
Place a cone 5-7 yards away from a family member or a wall. Receive the ball from the server and perform the following touches to return the ball to the server with a pass:
Inside of the foot: Receive the ball with inside of the foot directionally towards the other side of the cone. Return the pass and remain on this side of the cone. Receive the next pass and perform the same skill in the opposite direction. Return the pass with your opposite foot.
Outside of the foot: Receive the ball with outside of the foot directionally towards the other side of the cone. Return the pass and remain on this side of the cone. Receive the next pass and perform the same skill in the opposite direction. Return the pass with your opposite foot. Perform as many repetitions as possible in 30 seconds.
